Course Improvements

Work on the pond was completed in the fall of 2011.  Wiederholdt Excavating was hired to dig out the existing pond and to make it deeper.  It should be approximately the 8-10 ft deep.  This project was badly needed, as the previous depth was creating clogging problems with the irrigation system.   We thank the volunteers who helped to lay the bentonite and now look forward to spring and filling the pond.

Management Changes

With the start of 2012, Cole Acres has seen a change in management.  Jay McQuade has assumed all management duties for 2012/2013.  Jim and Mary Jo have chosen not to renew their part of the contract, but will of course be around throughout the summer to help out as needed.  We all wish Jay continued success.  Jay has been the superintendant at Cole Acres since 2009.

Leaderboard

An addition to the Cole Acres tournaments this year has been the large new leaderboard hanging near the clubhouse entrance.  This dry-erase style board was designed and donated by members Rick and Donna Atkinson.  Tournament scores can now be posted as they come in for all to see.  We would like to thank Rick and Donna, as well as all members who have donated items for the course, for making Cole Acres a beautiful golf course.  Your support is greatly appreciated!

Will Kudronowicz/Junior Golfer Aces Hole #6

Fourteen year old Will Kudronowicz certainly made the Cole Acres Rookie Golf Program a little more exciting on Monday, July 18th, as he accomplished what so many golfers only dream about.  Will got his first “Hole In One” on Hole #6 during the program’s tournament play.  The Cole Acres Jr Golf Program provides instruction on golf fundamentals to area youth.  The six week program is held every Monday morning during the months of June and July.  At the end of the session, the youth have the opportunity to show what they have learned by competing in contests and a small tournament of 4 or 5 holes, depending on their ages.  Will is in the 13-14 yr old boy’s division.

While they were waiting to tee off, Spike Brogley (one of the many volunteers who help make this program so successful), wanted to encourage a little more fun competition among the boys and offered a candy bar to the one who could get his tee shot closest to the flag while still on the green.  Logan Hoppman of Hazel Green went first, leaving his shot just to the right of the green.  Will was next and his shot landed about 4 ft in front of the flag, rolled a little and then disappeared.  It was somewhat of a delayed celebration, because it took a second for everyone to realize what had just happened.  All of the boys were excited and congratulated Will.  What a tough shot to follow!  Congratulations Will!

The boys that were with Will that day were Logan Hoppman, Bailey Willis and Brody Weist.
